Evelyn McHale

Her beauty was frozen in TIME, forever in its prime.

Her everlasting image captured in a photograph. A breathtakingly tragic sight, a reminder of life’s fragility. Her identity changed completely after death.

Evelyn McHale, born 1923, was dubbed "the most beautiful suicide" after an image of her fallen body was published in TIME in 1947.

While known in her lifetime for her intellect and quiet nature, Evelyn's memory now exists only as a snapshot of her most difficult moment.
